Drop off and Collection

The main school gate on Barewell Road opens at 8.45am as does the school gate on St Margaret’s Close: please see the Google Map on our contact page. Pupils from Year 1 through to Year 6 should make their way to their classroom doors which open at 8:45am, Year 2 children are met at the main door of the infant block. Children are encouraged to be responsible for putting away their own belongings at the start of the day.

The teachers will meet and greet your children and are available for a quick chat if you need to pass on important information. However, as the start of the day is particularly busy, teachers will be unable to engage in lengthy conversations with parents but please feel free to call the office to make an after school appointment to see you child's teacher if there is something you need to discuss.

Drop-off for Reception Children

The start of the day works slightly differently for Reception pupils in that they are welcomed into school by either the class teacher or a classroom assistant each morning directly from the Foundation Stage entrance at 8:45am.

If your child is attending Reception for the first time and is part of the staggered entry, please go to the Foundation Stage building at the correct time.

The end of the school day is another busy time of the day as staff need to ensure children are met by parents or familiar adults..It is very important that every child is accounted for as they leave the school and handed safely to their parent or carer. Please be patient with us, especially over the first few weeks of the academic year when we aren’t yet familiar with parents’ faces.

  • Foundation Stage classes finish at 3:00pm
  • All other classes finish at 3:05pm

The school gates are opened to allow parents onto the school grounds at 2:55pm. We discourage parents from meeting their children outside of the school grounds as this presents a danger of children becoming lost or leaving the school grounds when there is no one ready to meet them. If you would like children to walk home on their own please could you inform their class teacher, preferably in writing, at the start of the year.

After-school clubs

Unless otherwise stated, all pupils attending after-school clubs will leave from the main entrance. However, occasionally staff may feel that to ease congestion at the door they will use their classroom. If this is the case, parents will be notified and this entrance will always be used by this club.
Changes to Collection.
If you are unable to collect you child please notify the office as soon as possible, with details of who will be collecting on your behalf. We will ask specific information which we record and pass on the class teacher.

In the event that a child is not collected by an authorised adult at the end of a session, the school puts into practice agreed procedures. These ensure the child is cared for safely by an experienced and qualified person who is known to the child.
