Sailing in the Bay 30.6.21

Over the past few weeks  pupils from the Hearing Support Centre at St. Margarets have been sailing with Marshall Ritchie and his boat Colgate in Torbay Harbour.  Each time they went out they were lucky enough to enjoy the experience in sunshine with sufficient wind to be able to use the sails.  Marshall explained and gave instructions in English and the Deaf Inclusion Workers then interpreted the information into BSL for the pupils to follow.  The children had the chance to steer the boat, were exposed to new language about sailing a boat and learned how the boat worked in a practical hand-on experience.

Their smiling faces showed how much they enjoyed it.  Thank you to Marshall and his company Sailability for the experience.
