Y5/6 Commonwealth Games 6.7.22

As I am sure you are aware, the Commonwealth Games is taking place in Birmingham in July and August.  To celebrate this the students at St Cuthbert Mayne hosted their own mini Commonwealth Games event.  The event was fun and enjoyable for all the children who competed, whilst spreading the Commonwealth message of equality, humanity and destiny.  The sports taking place were Tag Rugby, Netball, Table Tennis and Basketball.  We took 30 children, mostly Year 6s and some Year 5s.  They were organised in to four teams and they represented the school in their sport against children from Priory and St Marychurch.  The children performed exceptionally well, coming back with all of the silverwear!  All of the St Margaret’s teams won their competitions and Isla, Jesse and Elsie received a special mention for fair play and were awarded a medal each.  What an amazing way to finish a busy summer of competitive sport and to celebrate the Commonwealth Games.  Well done to all of the children who competed.
