Our Curriculum

Learning is at the heart of everything we do and our curriculum encompasses every part of the child's school day.  We believe our curriculum is engaging and relevant to today's children and offers challenge and support to all in their learning.
Reception Children follow the Early Years Curriculum and more information about this can be found using the navigation bar on this page.
We use The National Curriculum to to plan sequences of learning for children from Y1 - Y6.  The curriculum consists of core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Computing and Religious Education.
Foundation subjects such as Art, Design Technology, French, Geography, History, Music and PE are also taught as well as Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) which includes Sex and Relationships Education and Drugs Education.
Religious Education is taught in accordance with the Torbay and Devon Agreed Syllabus.  Parents may, if they wish, write to the Headteacher to request that their children be wholly or partly excused from attendance at our regular collective worship or religious education.
We have also introduced Philosophy For Children which is a fantastic way to get them thinking about the world beyond themselves.
Curriculum Maps

For each topic, we create curriculum maps that show what will be covered in each subject. The Navigation menu will allow you to view the curriculum we offer to each year group. Please note that the curriculum maps are outlines and teachers may make slight adjustments over the course of the topic.
Home Learning

Home learning is an important part of supporting your child's understanding and development. Linked to each topic there will be a selection of tasks to complete. Children can choose which order they complete the tasks at home. There is always a range of activities, including maths, literacy, 'talk' homework, art work, research and more!
