Year 4 Tag Rugby Team Best in the Bay 10.10.19

As part of our partnership with St Cuthbert Mayne Family Cluster we took part in a Tag Rugby competition at St Cuthbert Mayne on the 3rd October and the children played some great tag rugby.  There were teams from Lady of the Angels, St Marychurch and Homelands – 6 teams altogether.  All the teams played each other and after some exciting games, the A team won and the B team finished third overall – what an achievement!  All of the players were good ambassadors for the school demonstrating all of England Rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.  Because the A team came first, they qualified for the next round of the competition which was a Torbay final. On the 10th October they played at Paignton Community Sports Academy against the best 10 teams in the bay.  The team rotated around 5 different skills based activities and then they played some competitive tag rugby games.  They were given a score for the 5 England Rugby’s core values and for tries scored. St Margaret’s were rewarded the most points for demonstrating these values and they won the group stage.  They then went through to the semi-final against Kings Ash and won 4-0. They played Sherwell Valley in the final, it was a close game, but the players demonstrated resilience and eventually won 2-1.  This means they now qualify for the Devon finals, which will be played at Exeter at the Summer School Games.
