Last week Rowan class visited Kent's Cavern to investigate the natural rocks and cave formations in our local area.
On our visit we went into the limestone caves and saw the calcite layers. We experienced the permeability of the limestone caves, as water dripped onto our heads!
We even saw how minerals in the water are deposited creating small ‘straws’ on the ceiling which then form stalactites and how stalagmites grow upwards from the ground.
