Wind, Rain, Spiders and Halloween 31.10.19

Children and teachers alike braved the wet and wild October weather this week for some Halloween fun.  Children from Birch class quite literally had their cobwebs blown away as they attempted to make spider webs from sticks and wool but when the wind proved too much they weren’t downhearted but quickly adapted and made Halloween spiders from clay and sticks instead!  On the way they recalled that spiders are of course not in fact insects but arachnids with eight legs not 6 and up to eight eyes.  Despite all these eyes however, most spiders have poor eyesight and use their highly developed sense of smell and touch to find their prey.  The year 1 children in the Forest School club also made their own Incy Wincy Spiders but luckily they didn’t get washed away by all the rain!
